Synopsis
If you have a child who are from Pri 5 to Sec 5, and wondering how you as a parent can help your child learn smart techniques on how to make learning and studying more efficient, this is the right set of workshops for you.
Bro Suryakenchana Omar, founder of Elefpi Learnscapes, has been conducting sessions for both parents and students on 22 Essential Studying Skills to help students become self-directed and independent learners, since 1998.
JumpStart 2022
This 3-hour session is designed to familiarise parents with a number of study skills in Elefpi’s study skills set such as Preview+Skim (PS), Optimised Reading (OR) and Optimising Homework/Practice (OHP). These skills are recommended for application before, during and after a lesson.
Study Smart
This 1.5-hour session is designed for parents to help prepare their children for exams in a more meaningful manner, especially with smart studying and revision strategies such as such as Instant Recall (IR), Recall Mapping (RM) and GTR Circuit (GTR).
About the Speaker
Bro Suryakenchana Omar conceptualised the Learning Facilitation Programme (LFP) in 2003 that enables students to be self-directed and collaborative learners with study skills and portfolio development.
Now, he runs community-based LFPs and study skills development programmes at Madrasah Wak Tanjong, Bukit Batok CC and at Elefpi Learnscapes HQ in Excalibur Centre at Ubi Crescent.
He has a BA Hons and MA from NUS. He is a recipient of the SAF Academic Training Award, NUS Research Scholarship and NUS Student Achievement Award. He is embarking on his sponsored PhD at JCU Singapore since 2021.
