Synopsis
Bursting with youthful energy and brimming with child-like curiosity, this children’s book written by Singapore writer Maria Mahat and illustrated by veteran watercolorist Idris Ali is a glorious peek at Malay culture and early Singapore history. Complete with songs (it even comes with a read-along and sing-along audio CD) and parallel Malay text, this book is an essential addition to your children’s book collection, especially if you want to share your appreciation of Malay culture, language and history with your little ones.
Mahir and his classmates go on an excursion at the Malay Heritage Centre. He and his best friend, Aqil, wonder what Singapore was like in the olden days. Their imagination leads them to explore snapshots of old and fascinating Singapore, and the culture of the Malays.
